Chestnut Hill/Wyndmoor Real Estate

    It’s Philadelphia’s original suburb.

With the construction of a rail line in 1854, the neighborhood’s destiny was set. Before the Main Line was a thing, the more affluent among the city’s workers escaped to Chestnut Hill.

You can still see vestiges of Chestnut Hill’s age today. From the bridges to the mansions to the inns, its storied past can be read in everything from architectural details to garden expanses.

Among its buildings, you can find examples by some of America’s most famous architects, including Louis Kahn and Frank Furness. Among its greenery, you can find the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, a remnant of Victorian-style landscaping with an art museum nestled among its wooded walks. You can also find Wissahickon Valley Park, a beautiful stretch of the much larger Fairmount Park.

Then, of course, there’s the town center, which falls along a ten-block stretch of Gemantown Avenue. It’s here you’ll find a quaint yet appealing array of dining, shops, and bakeries. It is this mix of variety within a pleasant setting that makes Chestnut Hill the perfect location for a number of famous Philly festivals, like the Fall for the Arts Festival in September and Witches & Wizards Weekend every October.

This is the neighborhood for the lover of old books and older places, for the introspective thinker longing for quiet walks along a garden path or charming main avenue. This is the neighborhood for the Philly local who loves center city, but maybe needs something a little different for the weekend.
